Ian Laing WS

Counsel, Lombardi Associates

Ian is a Scottish lawyer, whose practice focuses on matters of football regulations and contractual work.

Prior to joining Lombardi Associates, in early 2019, Ian undertook his traineeship with the Society of Writers to Her Majesty’s Signet, where he was the first trainee solicitor in the 500+ years of the organisation.  During his traineeship he also enjoyed a secondment to an award-winning boutique commercial law firm, where he gained exposure to a wide range of commercial matters and high-profile defamation litigation.

His work includes:

• Advising clubs, players, intermediaries and associations on football regulatory matters;
  
• Representing clients before sports tribunals, FIFA and the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Since 2017 Ian has lectured on the sports law module at Glasgow Caledonian University, where he previously held the position of Student Director of the university’s Law Clinic.
