
Anthony Lo Surdo SC
Anthony Lo Surdo SC is an independent arbitrator, mediator and expert determiner practising from 8 Wentworth Chambers, Sydney, Lonsdale Chambers, Melbourne, William Forster Chambers, Darwin and Arbitra International, London, Washington DC and Abu Dhabi. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and of the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration He is also a Fellow of Resolution Institute and accredited by it as a Grade 1 Arbitrator and Expert Determiner.
Anthony is qualified as an arbitrator in Dubai and in Papua New Guinea. He is a panel member of several leading world arbitral institutions including LCIA, QICCA, ADGM, DIAC, AIAC, THAC, SIAC, HKIAC, SAC, KCAB, JCAA, and ACICA. He has been described by Doyles Guide as a leading Australian arbitration silk, 2018-2024, primarily in recognition of his work as an arbitrator. He has been appointed as arbitrator to over 100 domestic and international procedures.
He is accredited as a mediator under the Australian Mediator and Dispute Resolution Accreditation Standards and as an Advanced Mediator by Resolution Institute. He is also certified as a mediator by the International Mediation Institute, the Singapore International Mediation Institute and by the Supreme and National Courts of PNG. He has been described by Doyles Guide, 2017-2024, as a leading mediator and has mediated hundreds of disputes since he first qualified as a mediator in 1993.
Anthony is an Arbitrator and Mediator with the Court of Arbitration for Sport and a member of the National Sports Tribunal (Australia). He is a member of the Football Australia (FA) Appeals Committee, the Co-Chair of the FA Disciplinary and Ethics Committee, Deputy Chair of the FA Dispute Resolution Chamber, Chair of the Football NSW Appeals Tribunal, the Acting Racing Appeals Tribunal (NSW) and a member of the hearing and appeals panels of Basketball Australia. He is a former member of the English FA Judiciary Panel and Sports Resolutions (UK) International Panel. He served as Disciplinary Counsel for the National Rugby League. Anthony has also appeared as Counsel for athletes and sports associations in anti-doping, disciplinary, regulatory and governance disputes.
