James is a law graduate of the University of Glasgow.
After graduating, he obtained the ISDE Master’s degree in International and Comparative Sports Law at St. John’s University in New York.

Prior to joining Lombardi Associates in 2017, James worked in legal roles at three different sports governing bodies. He worked in the Disciplinary and Integrity Unit of UEFA, the Regulations Department of the Irish Greyhound Board, and the Legal Department of the Football Association of Ireland.

At Lombardi Associates, his work includes:

• Advising clubs, players, intermediaries and associations on football regulatory matters;
• Assisting with transfer contracts, dispute resolution, arbitration, and disciplinary matters.
