Eswar’s practice covers general commercial matters, insurance, civil fraud, product liability, property damage, sport, employment, and private international law. Within these areas, Eswar has significant experience of acting in group litigation.
Eswar has experience of acting in a range of industries, such as banking and finance (including advising in respect of cryptoassets), aviation, construction, and consumer goods. He has advised a wide range of clients, including multiple Premiership football clubs and a Formula One racing team. He has a busy court practice and appears in the High Court as sole counsel.
Before transferring to the Bar, Eswar was a solicitor in Slaughter and May’s Dispute Resolution team where he worked on a range of high-value disputes. Eswar was part of the team that acted for the successful local authority in Essex County Council v UBB Waste (Essex) Limited [2020] EWHC 1581 (TCC), determined after a six-week trial in the TCC. Eswar also spent six months on secondment in Tokyo, with Mori Hamada & Matsumoto.
Eswar’s work covers all aspects of sports law. The breadth of his practice makes him particularly suited to sports work, which often intersects with other areas of law and requires broader expertise.
Eswar has advised football clubs (in League One and the Premiership), a Formula One racing team, and a County Cricket Club. He has advised in respect of contractual disputes, challenges to the decisions and policies of governing bodies (both acting for the governing body and those seeking to challenge the governing body), and challenges to on-track/field decisions.
Eswar successfully represented a motorsports governing body as junior counsel (led by William Clerk) in a two-week High Court trial concerning a challenge to its regulations.
