Jamie Gamble

Jamie heads up the employment law team in the Newcastle office of Ward Hadaway and has advised sports clubs for more than 15 years on a wide range of HR and regulatory issues in a range of sports including rugby, football and cricket.
Jamie has experience advising professional clubs and charitable foundations on employment law issues, governing body regulatory prosecutions and allegations of discrimination in the provision of services brought by the public. His recent experience includes:
- advising on a race discrimination investigation conducted by a sport governing body including liaising with the KC investigating the allegations;
- advising on senior level hires and exits;
- advising on coaches contracts of employment and the termination of those contracts.
- advising on contracts of employment and a wide range of employment issues in relation to non-playing staff in a sports club, including restructuring exercises, working time and national minimum wage issues.
Through many years of working in this sector Jamie understands the different considerations that need to be considered in sports clubs when there are so many interested parties and stakeholders.
In his wider employment law work Jamie advises a wide range of clients on the full range of employment law issues but has particular specialism in drafting director / senior management level contracts of employment, dealing with the exit of directors / senior management, complex discrimination and whistleblowing claims and TUPE.
Jamie chairs the firm's EDI and Wellbeing committees. In his spare time Jamie coaches a junior football team.
