Rachael Clarke is a Senior Manager within Alvarez & Marsal’s Disputes and Investigations practice in London, specialising in forensic accounting and financial analysis in contentious and high‑pressure environments. She brings over eight years of professional experience, supported by a strong technical foundation from an audit background, and has worked on contractual disputes, fraud investigations, complex accounting issues and audit negligence, working with clients across a range of countries and industries including sport.
Ms Clarke’s recent experience includes:
- Supporting A&M’s strategic partnership with the Global Sustainability Benchmark in Sport (GSBS) by providing independent, expert review of qualitative disclosures, including undertaking comprehensive assessments of all publicly available sustainability strategies and policies relevant to the GSBS Rating, applying a consistent and objective framework to evaluate quality and substance;
- Conducting a loss of profit assessment for a broadcaster in relation to missed investment opportunities arising from the non‑receipt of funding, including financial modelling to assess the value of the foregone investment opportunity;
- Conducting on‑site forensic audits of government‑owned entities in an African country, including review of governance and procurement processes, with a specific focus on identifying fraud and corruption.
- Working on a multi‑billion‑pound fraud investigation involving the concealment of loans and inflation of revenue, including quantifying financial misstatements and supporting an auditors’ negligence claim;
- Supporting an investigation on behalf of a Central Bank, performing asset tracing and funds‑flow analysis of an investment management firm, including tracing initial investments, coupon payments and redemptions to assess the handling of client funds, as well as reviewing the CEO’s email inbox to identify mismanagement of funds and fraudulent business practices; and
- Working alongside A&M’s tax team to analyse investor tax returns (primarily high‑net‑worth individuals) in film partnerships, including assessing investor profit or loss outcomes.
Ms Clarke qualified as an ACA Chartered Accountant in January 2020 and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
