Chris has for thirty years specialised in the defence and prosecution of crime and regulatory offences for companies directors, participants and high net worth individuals in a number of high profile cases.
He advises organisations on how to avoid adverse events and on the management response and incident protocols to ensure the best response when breaches of law occur and defends companies throughthe regulatory process from investigation to arrest and police station interviews, inquest and rimoinal court trial.
Some of the cases Chris has advised on:
- Inquest following the death of a supporter while attending a Championship football club stadium. No prosecution brought following lengthy investigation by local safety inspector.
- Secured the acquittal after a four week trial of a general manager charged alongside two directors of a trampoline park following 170 serious injuries to members of the public over a three month period.
- Successfully defended Premier League player facing driving disqualification- case thrown out for prosecution's failure to comply with various regulations.
- Premier League club prosecution and individual summons brought against its well known Managing Director relating to a ticketing breach of the relevant trading standards laws. In order benefit from priority allocation the club required an additional subscription which it had not disclosed until after the first tranche of season tickets had been released.
- Advising on safety and crowd risk assessments to a new build stadium.
- Advised on safety and risk assessments relating to a temporary outdoor entertainment facility where injuries had occurred.
- Successfully defended national chain of gym operators at inquest after a guest died in its sauna.
- Represented at inquest of a gym goer who dies after visiting its steam room and facilities.
- Successfully defended a leisure Centre following the death of a swimmer in its pool.
- Advised cricket club following the death of a spectator at its premises and fitness of the ground.
- Member of and speak at Stadium Safety group Special Interest Group of the British Safety Council following crowd disturbance issues and new guidance being launched.
- Defended Premier League player following speeding disqualification for 28 days which was imposed just as he headed out to an international tournament which meant he could drive as soon as he got back after his team had been knocked out.
- Defended international football manager after he was caught speeding and advised his association on how far it was required to identify him as the driver.
- Advised company in noise nuisance issues arising from its installation of a new padel court.
