Matthew Cormack

Matt has extensive experience in the sports sector and has a portfolio of clients ranging from premier league professional sports clubs, charitable foundations, mass participation sporting event organisers, and individuals.

Matt is a trusted strategic advisor to his client base and covers a range of corporate governance and commercial contract advice.

Matt advises clients on complex contractual arrangements such as sponsorship arrangements, partnership agreements and consumer contracts, and his advice as a commercial lawyer was instrumental to clients in guiding them through the effects of cancellation, postponement and force majeure, through the Covid-19 pandemic.

For sports organisations, Matt has significant experience in working with Sports England funded organisations, and often advises on the impact of the Code for Sports Governance. 

Outside of his day to day practice, he has been a Trustee of RISE North East, a former community sports partnership, for 7 years, through which he has helped to guide the organisation through mergers with their counterpart organisations in Northumberland and Tyne and Wear.
