1436/19 CGL Sports LLC v/ Young, Nan Jing TongXi Basketball Club

FIBA

The Agency, CGL Sports, LLC, filed a claim against the American Player Joseph Michael Young and the Chinese Club, Nan Jing TongXi Basketball Club for agent fees and interest. The Claimant submitted that the Player improperly terminated the Agreement in order to avoid paying agent fees to it. In his Answer, the Player argued that BAT did not have jurisdiction due to his termination of the Agreement and the fact that the Draft Contract between the Claimant and the Chinese Club, which contained a BAT arbitration clause was not signed; however, he did not make any submissions on the merits. The claim against the Chinese Club was dismissed for lack of jurisdiction. The claim against the Player was upheld.
