The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) can confirm that Shahr Khodro FC and Esteghlal FC from the Islamic Republic of Iran have agreed to play their AFC Champions League Preliminary Stage ties against Riffa (Bahrain) and Kuwait SC respectively in the United Arab Emirates on January 25, 2020 following discussions between the AFC General Secretary Dato’ Windsor John and club representatives in the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur today.
It was also agreed that any home matches for IR Iran clubs in the AFC Champions League group stage on match day one, two and three will be rescheduled to be played as away matches to allow time to reassess the security concerns in the country.
