July 2, 2015 – The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) announced today that Chris Wakeham, a broomball athlete, received a four-year sanction for an anti-doping rule violation. The athlete refused to submit to sample collection during an in-competition doping control session on April 11, 2015.

In accordance with the 2015 Canadian Anti-Doping Program (CADP), if an athlete does not engage in the results process, the anti-doping rule violation and sanction are confirmed by way of a deemed waiver. Since Mr. Wakeham did not engage in the results process, the violation was confirmed and a sanction was imposed on May 31, 2015. The athlete, who resides in London, Ontario, is ineligible to participate in any capacity with any sport signatory to the CADP, including training with teammates, until May 31, 2019.
