The ITA notifies wrestler Deyvid Dimitrov of an apparent anti-doping rule violation

International Testing Authority (ITA)

The International Testing Agency (ITA), which leads an independent anti-doping program for United World Wrestling (UWW), confirms that it has notified Deyvid Dimitrov from Bulgaria of an adverse analytical finding (AAF) for 19-norandrosterone and stanozolol.

The ITA reports that a sample collected in-competition on 4 June 2026 during the Ulaanbaatar Open from Mr Deyvid Dimitrov, a wrestler from Bulgaria, has returned an AAF¹ for 19-norandrosterone and stanozolol metabolites. The same sample also returned an atypical finding² (ATF) for clomifene.

19-norandrosterone and stanozolol are listed under section S1.1 “Anabolic Androgenic Steroids” of the 2026 WADA Prohibited List. They are non-specified substances prohibited at all times (in- and out-of-competition). Clomifene is listed under section S4.2 “Anti-Estrogenic Substances” of the 2026 WADA Prohibited List and is also prohibited at all times.

The athlete has been informed of the case and has the right to request the analysis of the B-sample.

If the B-sample analysis is requested and confirms the A-sample result, the case will proceed as a confirmed anti-doping rule violation. If the B-sample analysis is not requested, the case will also proceed as a confirmed violation. The athlete will have the opportunity to provide his explanations for the result.

Further, in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code and Article 7.4.1 of the UWW Anti-Doping Rules, a mandatory provisional suspension has been imposed on the athlete. He has the right to challenge the provisional suspension and request its lifting.

Pursuant to UWW’s delegation of its anti-doping programme to the ITA, the prosecution of the case is being handled entirely by the ITA. Given that the case is underway, there will be no further comments made.
