The ITA reports a two-year period of ineligibility for taekwondo athlete Rosa Camila Llauca Mendoza
The International Testing Agency (ITA), leading an independent anti-doping program for World Taekwondo (WT), reports that Peruvian taekwondo athlete Rosa Camila Llauca Mendoza has accepted a two-year sanction after testing positive for the prohibited substance furosemide.
The ITA reports that taekwondo athlete Rosa Camila Llauca Mendoza has agreed¹ to the consequences imposed for her anti-doping rule violation (ADRV).
The athlete tested positive for the prohibited substance furosemide after providing a sample on 6 September 2025 during the 2025 World Taekwondo President’s Cup – Pan Am taking place in Lima, Peru.
Furosemide is prohibited by the WADA Prohibited List under the S5 Diuretics and Masking Agents category. It is prohibited at all times (in- and out-of-competition) and is classified as a specified substance. Furosemide can be used by athletes to excrete water for rapid weight loss.
The athlete did not challenge the ADRV and agreed with the consequences proposed by the ITA. Accordingly, the case was resolved via and acceptance of consequences.
The athlete’s period of ineligibility is from 13 October 2025 (date of the athlete’s acceptance of a voluntary provisional suspension) until 12 October 2027. In addition, all of the athlete’s competitive results as from 6 September 2025, including the results obtained at 2025 World Taekwondo President’s Cup – Pan Am, are disqualified including forfeiture of medals, points and prizes.
The decision may be challenged before the appeal division of the Court of Arbitration of Sport by the parties with a right of appeal in accordance with Article 13.2.3 of the WT anti-doping rules.
