The ITA reports that sambo athlete Khakimjon Ismoilov has accepted a 2-year ban for his anti-doping rule violation
The International Testing Agency (ITA), leading an independent anti-doping program for the International Sambo Federation (FIAS), reports that sambo athlete Khakimjon Ismoilov from Uzbekistan has accepted a two-year period of ineligibility after testing positive for the prohibited substance clomifene.
The ITA, on behalf of FIAS, confirms that the athlete Khakimjon Ismoilov has agreed¹ to the consequences imposed for his anti-doping rule violation (ADRV).
The athlete tested positive for the prohibited substance clomifene after providing a sample on 14 April 2025 during the Youth, Junior and Elite Asian SAMBO Championships.
Clomifene is prohibited under the WADA Prohibited List as S4.2. Anti-Estrogenic Substances. It is prohibited at all times (in- and out-of-competition) and is classified as a specified substance. Clomifene can be used by athletes to stimulate natural testosterone production and enhance recovery.
The athlete did not challenge his ADRV and agreed with the consequences proposed by the ITA. Accordingly, the case was resolved via an acceptance of consequences.
The athlete’s period of ineligibility is from 14 December 2025 until 13 December 2027. In addition, all the athlete’s individual competitive results from 14 April 2025 until 13 December 2025, including the results obtained at the Youth, Junior and Elite Asian SAMBO Championships, are disqualified including forfeiture of medals, points and prizes.
The decision may be challenged before the appeals division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) by the parties with a right of appeal in accordance with Article 13.2.3 of the FIAS anti-doping rules.
The ITA will not comment further on this case.
