The ITA reports that weightlifter Neisi Patricia Dajomes Barrera has been sanctioned with a 14-month period of ineligibility
The International Testing Agency (ITA) leading an independent anti-doping program for the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), reports that weightlifter Neisi Patricia Dajomes Barrera from Ecuador has accepted a fourteen-month period of ineligibility after testing positive for the prohibited substance clomifene.
The ITA, on behalf of the IWF, confirms that the athlete Neisi Patricia Dajomes Barrera has agreed¹ to the consequences imposed for her anti-doping rule violation (ADRV).
The athlete tested positive for the prohibited substance clomifene after providing an out-of-competition sample on 7 April 2025.
Clomifene is prohibited under the WADA Prohibited List as S4.2. Anti-Estrogenic Substances. It is prohibited at all times (in- and out-of-competition) and is classified as a specified substance.
The athlete did not challenge her ADRV and agreed with the consequences that apply, namely a period of ineligibility of fourteen months from 2 June 2025 until 1 August 2026 and disqualification of competitive results from 7 April 2025 onwards.
The relevant stakeholders, namely the World Anti-Doping Agency and the National Anti-Doping Unit of Ecuador, have a right to appeal the consequences imposed before the appeals division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The ITA will not comment further on this case.
