Arbitration and Sport

Thursday, 22 April 2010

Roland Garros, Paris on the 22 April 2010.

Panelists made up arbitrators listed with the Court of Arbitration for Sport and former members of tribunals constituted for individual sporting events including the Olympic Games, will discuss openly with the audience what arbitration signifies for sport disputes and assess what can be done, what cannot be done and, where it can be done, how it can be done better.

2010 is a big year for sporting events. With the increasing use of arbitration in Sport, not to mention all the recent controversies, such as the decisions of the Swiss Supreme Court on CAS' jurisdiction and the legal consequences of misconduct in Formula One (McLaren and Renault), ICC’s Day for Arbitration and Sport also comes at an extremely timely moment in the year, falling right between the Winter Olympics in February and the FA Cup in South Africa in June.
