
Ben Van Rompuy
Prof. Dr. Ben Van Rompuy is a senior researcher and consultant at the T.M.C. Asser Instituut (The Hague), where he heads the ASSER International Sports Law Center. His research focuses primarily on the application of EU (competition) law in the sports and media sectors. He has, however, published widely on a broad range of topics relating to competition/antitrust law, media law, and sports law, and regularly acts as a legal expert for media companies, sports associations, athletes, and public authorities.
Ben is also a Guest Professor of Competition policy and media regulation at the Free University of Brussels (VUB) and senior researcher at iMinds-SMIT (Studies on Media, Information and Telecommunication) and the Institute for European Studies of the VUB. He has held visiting positions at Georgetown University Law Center (Institute of International Economic Law) and New York University and served as a consultant in international antitrust for the US Federal Trade Commission.
Ben holds a doctoral degree in law and masters' degrees in international and European Law and in media studies from VUB. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the American Antitrust Institute and the International Sports Law Journal and editorial board member of the ‘Asser International Sports Law’ and ‘Information Technology and Law’ book series.
