
Mathilde Groppo
Mathilde is a Legal Adviser in Carter-Ruck’s Media Litigation group. She has assisted on various defamation cases representing claimants and defendants, individuals and corporations, including on the first trial concerning the issue of serious harm in the Defamation Act 2013.
Mathilde also assists on privacy and reputation management cases including the removal of information online and on anonymised matters relating to misuse of private information and harassment.
Mathilde has been involved in procedures before the General Court and the Court of Justice of the European Union and has assisted in contentious and non-contentious IP, IT and Data Protection cases.
Mathilde speaks fluent French (mother-tongue), English and Italian.
Mathilde joined Carter-Ruck as a Paralegal in 2015. She trained with international law firms, Bird & Bird and Linklaters in Paris and also trained with the Paris Bar School in 2016 – 2017. Mathilde subsequently re-joined Carter-Ruck in 2017 as a French Trainee. She qualifies in December 2017.
Mathilde did a joint degree in English and French law at Kings College London and La Sorbonne. She subsequently obtained her Masters from McGill University and a PhD in Comparative law from Kings College, London.
