Michael Graif is a partner in the Brown Rudnick’s Intellectual Property group and the Trademark, Copyright & Advertising practice. Michael has been recognized by the World Trademark Review’s WTR 1000 for twelve consecutive years as a top trademark enforcement and prosecution attorney in New York.

His practice focuses on trademark and copyright enforcement, technology transactions and licensing, artificial intelligence, trade secrets, fair use, and online brand protection, including social media, publicity and domain name issues. As a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US), Michael also advises his clients on data and privacy rights.

According to the World Trademark Review, Michael “epitomizes the term ‘IP expert’,” and has “a breadth of experience in trademark work and can clearly explain legal concepts and strategies to people who may not be well versed in law.” The guide also praises him as a “skilled brand enforcer, whose advice extends to IP-rich transactional issues,” and for being “well versed in technology issues” and “emerging concerns around fair use and generative artificial intelligence.” Michael’s expansive knowledge and insights on the latest IP-related legal developments are regularly sought out by national media outlets such as Bloomberg Television, Reuters Television, the Washington Post, the San Francisco Chronicle, Above the Law, The Guardian of London, and The Daily Deal. He advises clients across a broad range of industries, from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies, to protect and manage their most valuable intellectual property assets.

Prior to joining Brown Rudnick, Michael was an intellectual property member at Mintz. He previously served as chair of the intellectual property group at Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP.

Michael teaches social media law as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.
