Richard Jobson - Assistant Chief Executive (PFA)

Richard made his debut as a 19 year old for Watford FC in 1982-83, six weeks after signing from non-league Burton Albion. He then signed for Hull City in 1985 for £40,000. After 221 appearances for them he was signed by Oldham Athletic for a club record fee of £460,000 in 1990. He was a key player in their promotion to the first Division and was recognised as one of the best defenders in the country, earning 2 England ‘B’ caps.

Richard moved to Leeds United in 1995 for a £1million fee, a year after Oldham's relegation from the Premiership. In 1998 he rejoined his previous manager Joe Royle at Manchester City FC and helped them reach the Premiership with two successive promotions. Towards the end of his career he played for Tranmere Rovers and Rochdale, playing the final game of his career just before his 40^th birthday in May 2003.

Whilst playing, Richard performed the PFA Delegate role at Hull City, Oldham Athletic, Leeds United and Manchester City. He served on the PFA Management Committee from 1998 – 2003 and was PFA Chairman for the final year of his playing career in 2003. Upon retiring as player, Richard joined the PFA as a full-time executive.

Richard works as a member of the Delegate Liaison Department and is the Assistant Chief Executive at the PFA.

His role includes disciplinary representation and dispute resolution and, as a FIFA Licensed Agent, offers contract advice. He handles grant applications for assistance with medical treatment from the PFA’s Accident/Insurance Fund and also processes players’ insurance claims with regards to permanent and total disability. He is a Trustee of the Professional Footballers’ Pension Scheme and represents the Premier League at games as a Match Delegate.
