Tim is a partner in Clarke Willmott's commercial and private client litigation team and leads on the regulatory side for the firm’s sport sector. He has an unmatched breath of experience and knowledge within the sector and works to provide the most specialist solutions for his clients. Tim can help clients respond to changes in their regulatory landscape, reduce risk arising from such developments and represent them when faced with an investigation by a regulatory body and / or when threatened with sanction.

Tim regularly advises on sport regulatory issues such as Rule K arbitration, anti-doping, Olympic selection disputes, and advising on disciplinary matters both on and off the field of play, including RFU disciplinary tribunals. Stadium safety and security. He advises and represents professional football clubs in response to charges of Misconduct and hearings before the Football Association’s Regulatory Commission and provides strategic health and safety advice and training to clubs to manage and mitigate risks within the stadium. Tim has delivered many training sessions to the industry, including to the Football Safety Officers’ Association.

Tim acted for Sheffield Wednesday Football Club in the first occasion on which a decision of a Chief Licensing Officer was challenged in a court. Tim acted for the club in challenging a decision of the Chief Licensing Officer of Sheffield City Council to impose a Prohibition Notice covering part of Hillsborough Stadium in accordance with powers provided by the Sports Ground Safety Act 1975.  The appeal was to the Magistrates Court.  The appeal was allowed, and the Prohibition Notice quashed.  Tim continues to receive instructions from professional sports leagues and clubs and has carved out a niche in this area.

Tim is a member of the Rugby Union Safety Association, Football Safety Officers’ Association and the Health and Safety Lawyer’s Association.
