Case of Carlos Queiroz
Friday, 24 September 2010Lausanne, 24 September 2010. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has granted the request filed by Carlos Queiroz to stay the execution of the six-month suspension imposed by the Portuguese Anti-Doping Agency pending the outcome of his appeal before the CAS.
The suspension is therefore temporarily lifted. The suspension may resume at a later stage, if Queiroz’ appeal is dismissed by the CAS.
Carlos Queiroz, former coach of the national football team of Portugal, was sanctioned by the Portuguese Anti-Doping Agency following an alleged improper behaviour towards anti-doping officials during an anti-doping control of the players of the Portuguese team before the FIFA World Cup 2010.
The CAS arbitration will continue with the exchange of written submissions between the parties. A hearing date has not yet been fixed and is unlikely to take place before mid-November 2010.
