Case of Carlos Queiroz

Lausanne, 24 September 2010. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has granted the request filed by Carlos Queiroz to stay the execution of the six-month suspension imposed by the Portuguese Anti-Doping Agency pending the outcome of his appeal before the CAS.

The suspension is therefore temporarily lifted. The suspension may resume at a later stage, if Queiroz’ appeal is dismissed by the CAS.

Carlos Queiroz, former coach of the national football team of Portugal, was sanctioned by the Portuguese Anti-Doping Agency following an alleged improper behaviour towards anti-doping officials during an anti-doping control of the players of the Portuguese team  before the FIFA World Cup 2010.

The CAS arbitration will continue with the exchange of written submissions between the parties. A hearing date has not yet been fixed and is unlikely to take place before mid-November 2010.
