CS Pandurii Lignitul
Monday, 23 May 2011he Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has rendered its decision in the appeal cases submitted by the Romanian football club CS Pandurii Lignitul in relation to its ban to be scheduled in official matches and the match CS Pandurii Lignitul v. FC Otelul Galati initially planned for 25 February 2011.
The Romanian Professional Football League (RPFL) had ordered that such game be forfeited by CS Pandurii Lignitul following the non participation of the club due to its ban which itself followed the non-compliance by the club with previous decisions of the RPFL.
The CAS has declared the first appeal of CS Pandurii Lignitul of 1 March 2011 inadmissible (appeal against the decision of the RPFL Commission for Litigations of 8 February 2011 which had sanctioned the club with a ban to be scheduled in official games and from making transfers until payment of its debt) and has dismissed the second appeal of 6 April 2011 (appeal against the decision of the RPFL Appeal Committee of 10 March 2011 which pronounced the forfeit of the game CS Pandurii Lignitul v. FC Otelul Galati against the former). As a consequence, the result of the match between CS Pandurii Lignitul and FC Otelul Galati is unchanged and remains 0-3.
The full reasoned award will be communicated to the parties in a few weeks.
