Aahna Mehrotra
Principal Lawyer
Aahna’s journey isn’t just one of professional success, it is a story of vision, leadership, and deep-rooted love for sport. When she returned to India in 2013, equipped with international degrees and a global perspective, there was barely a space in sports law - let alone a welcoming one. After having worked with a couple of law firms, the realisation dawned that nothing exists that matches her vision. So, she eventually chose to build one in 2017.
In an industry still learning to take women seriously—in boardrooms, dressing rooms, or disciplinary hearings—Aahna made space for herself not through noise, but through substance.
At the helm of AM Sports Law and Management Co., Aahna leads a tight-knit team that punches far above its weight. Under her guidance, the boutique firm handles some of the most high-stakes legal matters in the global sports and gaming industry.
Her rise has also been marked by firsts. In 2019, appointed as the youngest member of India’s National Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel, Aahna didn’t just adjudicate - she helped transform. Her efforts in making anti-doping education more accessible and structured laid the foundation for how it’s understood across the country today. Aahna remains committed to systemic reform – advising the Union Government on India’s National Sports Governance Act, 2025 and served on the Committee for the National Code Against Age Fraud in Sports, thereby contributing towards the evolving legal framework around sports and gaming. She also serves as a visiting faculty at several sports law and management programmes of repute. Through it all, her mission is clear: to build a more ethical, inclusive, and future-ready sports ecosystem.
Aahna’s influence extends far beyond borders. One of only two Indian experts invited to provide feedback on the Drugs and Crime’s Global Report on Corruption in Sport published by UNODC, she was able to comment on international sport integrity issues. She has been roped as a mentor by the Sport Integrity Global Alliance. As an advisor to ‘Women in Sport India’ her pro bono work contributes to the organization’s growth alongside mentoring aspiring female professionals, empowering a new generation to enter sports and law with confidence. Perhaps what best reflects Aahna’s unmatched dedication is her role behind the scenes. Though she heads AMSL, she serves as de facto in-house counsel and strategic advisor to several leading sports organizations. Her ability to balance legal insight with business acumen has made her indispensable - quietly driving growth, minimizing risk, and shaping the future of sport from within.
