Gareth Oldale is TLT’s head of data, privacy and cybersecurity, specialising in data protection, privacy and information law matters.  He has a particular interest in the Sports and Wellbeing sectors.

Gareth advises on the full range of data protection matters, including compliance audits, privacy by design work, data ethics, Artificial Intelligence and biometrics, data organisational design, data and cyber breaches, and international data transfers.  He also operates as DPO for clients from time to time.

In the Sports sector, Gareth and the wider TLT team has established a reputation for advising on some of the most sensitive and high profile data matters to have arisen in recent years.  This includes advising Sports regulatory bodies on sensitive investigations into data breaches and complaints relating to sexual and physical abuse claims, acting for one of the “big four” premier league football clubs on a global privacy review to deploy new safeguarding tools, and operating as the interim DPO for various clients whilst they work through periods of transition and/or rapid growth.

The TLT Data, Privacy and Cybersecurity team are considered a “go to firm” in relation to data protection matters and are regarded as “pragmatic, efficient and cost-effective” by the Legal 500. They cover the full spectrum of data protection and privacy law matters and can assist businesses throughout the public and private sector in managing not just the legal and commercial risks, but ethical and reputational challenges as well. Gareth’s team can also provide flexible, scalable resource through secondments (virtual or non-virtual) and consultancy service delivery models.
