Sarah Attwood
Principal Associate
Sarah is a member of the Mills & Reeve sports law team and regularly advises football clubs, PL and WSL players, managers and agents on image rights deals and commercial sponsorship agreements. She also provides commercial law advice to rugby, golf, cycling and boxing clients, as well as Paralympic sport (including global sporting bodies). Sarah advises clients including sporting organisations and bodies on data protection matters. Sarah is passionate about levelling the playing field for women in sport and regularly speaks on panels about key topics in the industry.
Sarah has completed a secondment at Manchester City Football Club's in-house legal team. This gave her a fantastic insight into working alongside the client in their business. She was able to understand the client’s commercial and legal needs from the perspective of their business.
Sarah heads up The Equaliser, a bespoke sports law package to help support growth and level the playing field for women in sport. The Equaliser supports sportswomen at all levels from grassroots to elite athletes, sporting teams, governing bodies, and brands, investing in women’s sport.

Sarah was named in the 2023 North-West Legal 500 as a key individual in sports law and a specialist in data protection matters in sport. Sarah was short-listed for Rising Star at the global Women in Sports Law Awards 2023 and Lawyer of the Year at the Made In Manchester Awards 2020. Sarah is a member of global group Women in Sports Law and Pro-Manchester’s Sports Industry Steering Group.
