The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) Ad Hoc Division registers its fifth case
Tokyo, 22 July 2021 – The Ad Hoc Division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has registered its fifth arbitration procedure: CAS OG 20/05 Oksana Kalashnikova & Ekaterine Gorgodze v. International Tennis Federation (ITF) and Georgian National Olympic Committee & Georgia Tennis Federation.
Oksana Kalashnikova & Ekaterine Gorgodze (the Applicants), tennis players from Georgia who play as a pair for Women’s Doubles, have filed an application with the CAS Ad hoc Division seeking a ruling that they are eligible to compete in the Tokyo Olympic Games in the sport of Women’s Doubles Tennis. Their application concerns the qualification system used by the ITF for the Tokyo 2020 Games and the allocation of quota places.
The Panel of arbitrators appointed to decide this selection dispute, composed of Prof. Luigi Fumagalli, President, (Italy), Prof. Song Lu (China) and Mr Juan Pablo Arriagada (Chile), will hold a hearing in the evening of 22 July 2021.
