Key Strategies For Investors In Brazilian Football

In 2021, a new “Football Corporations Law” (Federal Law 14.193/2021)1 was enacted in Brazil aiming to create the legal framework for Brazilian football clubs – which continue to be majorly incorporated as not-for-profit associations – to change for a more efficient and investor-friendly corporate model, while creating the necessary incentives for a highly indebted industry to seek that change.

In Part 1 (which can be accessed here), the authors discuss the existing system of organization of football clubs in Brazil along with the issues that it has created. They also delve into the Football Corporations Law and provide an overview of the changes that the law brings.

This article discusses how and why investors should look to invest in Brazilian football clubs and provides some key tips on getting it right.
