Addressing athlete maltreatment and abuse continues to be a hot-button issue in the sports world. Due to increasing global attention and scrutiny on this topic, governments and organizations are bolstering their existing processes to ensure athlete safety, reduce incidents of maltreatment and ensure organizational accountability.
This article provides a high-level view of the key safeguarding measures currently implemented by governments and organizations within the United States (US), Canada and the United Kingdom (UK) which seek to protect athletes at the national sporting levels.
