This article provides five top tips on how to write an effective cover letter and CV. The information is taken from a live webinar held by LawInSport’s CEO, Sean Cottrell, and Director of Recruitment, John Cullen on 25 March 2021.

Writing an effective cover letter and CV is critical in making your application stand out when applying for a job. We see thousands of applications every year for roles at sports organisations, agencies, law firms, and for the LawInSport mentoring scheme.  Yet it is clear that many individuals still struggle with writing a great cover letter and CV.

While these points could be considered elementary, we have seen many great candidates - at all levels - get overlooked for roles, not because they lacked the ability, but because they did not articulate well enough in their application why their skillset and experience would be valuable to the organisation.
