New Zealand, Iran withdraw teams

The New Zealand Ice Hockey Federation has withdrawn its men’s U20 and women’s U18 national teams from the events the teams were previously entered. The other teams for the events in spring will remain entered with no decision taken yet.

Furthermore Iran has withdrawn from participating in the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division III Group B. The men’s national team at the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division IV remains entered for a first-time participation.

The IIHF Independent Disciplinary Board has issued a five-year suspension to Belarusian Ice Hockey Association (BIHA) President Dmitri Baskov.

The IIHF Independent Disciplinary Board has issued a five-year suspension to Belarusian Ice Hockey Association (BIHA) President Dmitri Baskov. 

The decision comes following a ten-month investigation by the IIHF Disciplinary Board, which found Baskov to be in violation of the IIHF Code of Conduct. The Board cited sufficient evidence that Baskov has tried to directly influence others to support the Belarus government and has threatened and discriminated Belarusian athletes because of their political opinion, violating Rule 1.2.2.1 of the IIHF Code of Conduct. The Board also determined that Baskov abused his position as a representative of ice hockey in order to support the current President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, violating Article 5 of the Olympic Charter in connection with Article 2.1 of the IIHF Disciplinary Regulations and Rule 1.2.2.4 of the IIHF Code of Conduct.  

Statement on CAF interclubs preliminary fixtures: Guinea Clubs

After monitoring the political and security situation in Guinea and following careful consideration, the CAF Interclub Committee has decided that all three fixtures involving clubs from Guinea in the preliminary stages will be played in a single leg at the opponent’s territory in accordance to Article 2.1 of the CAF Interclub Regulations.

£1,000 – Kim Bailey - breach of Rule (D)11 of the Rules of Racing in that on 31 March 2021 SUBWAY SURF (IRE) was due to run in the Join RacingTV Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle Race (Class 4) at Ludlow Racecourse.  After arriving at Ludlow the horse was scanned into the stable yard, during which the Equine Welfare and Integrity Officer noticed a substance around SUBWAY SURF (IRE)’s mouth and the Veterinary Officer was informed.  Following the report, a bag and lorry search was carried out and two unlabelled 50ml syringes containing an unidentifiable brown liquid were found.  One syringe was full, the other was empty, but with the brown liquid residue still within.  His representative explained to the Veterinary Officer that she had witnessed the horse being administered one of the syringes by one of the Head Lads either before or as the horse was being loaded to travel on the morning of the race.  Furthermore, she explained that the substance was ‘Pullman Pro’ and the horse was due to be administered the second syringe after the race.

FAIR GAME, a group of 25 value-driven clubs supported by 40 world-renowned football expert, revealed their new vision for football at a prestigious launch at Plough Lane, the home of AFC Wimbledon, today.

The government is currently developing policies on how to change the national game as part of Tracey Crouch’s football governance review. Fair Game aim is to help develop the long-term realistic solutions needed.

FIFA has published its International Transfer Snapshot (June – August 2021), an analysis of player transfer activity during the last transfer window.

According to the report, the number of transfers for men remained at the same level as last year with only a slight decrease in the total amount of transfer fees agreed. In the women’s game, there was a dramatic increase in the number of transfer during this year’s mid-year registration period compared to the same registration period in 2020.
