EFL Clubs To Report Non-Payment Of Wages: Why, How & What Happens?

On 17 February 2022[1], at an Extraordinary General Meeting, the English Football League (EFL), through its member clubs (namely clubs in the EFL Championship, League 1 and League 2), approved an amendment to the EFL’s Regulations, imposing a new requirement for EFL Clubs to self-report instances of non-payment of player wages. 

This article discusses the new regulation, the reason behind the introduction and the consequences of breach along with how this would impact EFL clubs going forward.
