How The Microsoft-Activision Deal Could Impact Gaming & Esports

2022 began with major acquisitions in the gaming and esports sector. First, Microsoft acquired games producer Activision Blizzard for around $68.7 billion[1]. And then, in its wake, Sony acquired Bungie (original creator of Halo) for $3.6 billion[2].

To assess the activity, LawInSport approached four leading legal experts to get their views on what impact the deals could have on the gaming and esports industry (particularly with the advent of the ‘metaverse’) and whether they throw up any potential legal issues.
