AFC Statement on AFC Cup 2020 East Zone

Following the withdrawal of Hong Kong’s Wofoo Tai Po from the AFC Cup 2020, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has confirmed today that Kitchee SC (HKG) has been awarded a direct slot into the AFC Cup Group Stage as the highest ranked club in the Play-off Stage (EAST) based on the draw mechanism established before the start of the Competition.

The Hong Kong side will join Tatung FC from Chinese Taipei and Macau’s MUST CPK in Group I with the final slot to be contested in the Play-off Stage between Ulaanbaatar City FC from Mongolia and Chinese Taipei’s Taipower FC and the Preliminary Stage (East) cancelled.

The AFC continues to be in constant communication with the AFC Cup Participating Clubs and Member Associations and a detailed and updated match schedule for the 2020 season will be communicated in due course.
