FA code of conduct to be introduced

The Football Association (FA) has introduced a new code of conduct for England players. The code had apparently been mooted for some time and is said not to be a direct result of recent events.

The Code has been approved by managers Roy Hodgson and Hope Powell and was presented to the current England squad at the new St George's Park training facility this week. The FA consulted with its counterparts at the Rugby Football Union and England and Wales Cricket Board about their respective codes for national players. The aim is to introduce general principles outlining appropriate and inappropriate conduct by players, whether representing the national team or not, including in relation to the use of social media. It is hoped that the code will be finalised next month.
