George Davies sports lawyer turns university lecturer
Mark Hovell, Managing Partner of leading Manchester law firm George Davies, has been confirmed as part of the faculty team educating students on the LLM. Masters course in International and Comparative Sports Law.
The joint programme has been established by Madrid based Instituto Superior de Derecho y Economia (ISDE) and U.S. based St. John´s University, and will take place in New York starting in August 2012. It has been designed for recent graduates with a first degree in law from a U.S. or foreign law school with a passion for sports and a desire for a career in this challenging field.
Mark will join some of the most prominent national and international sports law professionals from different sports law firms and sport-related institutions, who will share with the students their exceptional knowledge and experience.
Speaking of his most recent appointment Mark said "I'm really pleased to be asked by two prestigious universities to be a visiting professor on this Masters course. I have gained some valuable experiences, particularly through my involvement with CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport) which I look forward to sharing with the students. This is the third year that I have lectured for ISDE and I have been impressed each year with the quality of the work their students produce. A number of their alumni now have positions at FIFA, UEFA, ECA and the like"
The ISDE commented "Mark's insider knowledge of how this body operates makes him a particularly important attraction for practicing lawyers and students at the conferences and ISDE respectively."
