LawInSport Editor Kevin Carpenter joins international sports law firm
LawInSport can announce that our Editor Kevin Carpenter is to join international law firm Hill Dickinson LLP to practise sports law on a full time basis from 24 June 2013. Initially he will be based in their Manchester office before moving to their London office later in 2013.
This news does however mean that Kevin will be stepping down from his role as Editor. Kevin has been involved with LawInSport, firstly as Executive Contributor and then as Editor, for two years. He has shown tremendous passion for sports law and worked tirelessly for LawInSport, whilst also developing his legal and refereeing careers, to help grow LawInSport by, amongst other things, writing articles and blogs, attending conferences and promoting LawInSport by speaking at international conferences and being published in other respected sports law publications. He is now a renowned expert on sporting integrity and match-fixing.
Kevin will however be remaining an important part of LawInSport going forward by moving on to the Editorial Board and working as a Consultant.
Sean Cottrell, Managing and Editorial Director of LawInSport, had this to say, “It has been a pleasure to work with Kevin for the past couple of years during an exciting time of significant growth for LawInSport. Not only as he been a valuable business associate during that time but has become a close friend. I am looking forward to him continuing to be associated with LawInSport, drawing on his expertise and enthusiasm, and having him back in London later in the year.”
Kevin Carpenter reflected on his involvement with LawInSport, “I would like to thank everyone I have worked with at LawInSport. I would like to put on record how grateful I am to Sean for all he has done to develop my sports law career and personal brand. I would not have had some of the opportunity to become a sports law had not been for him. However, given my new role and responsibilities with Hill Dickinson, I would not have been able to give the role of Editor the time and attention it needs and deserves. Therefore, although it is with regret, I knew it was only right to step down and adjust my involvement going forward. LawInSport is a service and brand I am extremely proud to be associated with and which I am certain will only go from strength-to-strength and cement its place as the global leader in the sports law publication market.”
