CAS reject Russian application to appeal the decision to terminate the Women’s Elliott 6m class semi final races

The ad hoc Division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has rejected the urgent application filed this morning by the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) against the decision taken by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) on 10 August 2012 to terminate the Women's Elliott 6m class semi final races due to lack of wind, and to declare the Spanish team as winner.

The ad hoc Division of the CAS received the Russian Olympic Committee's application at 8.00am this morning. The applicant requested the annulment of the ISAF's decision to cancel races 4 and 5 of the semi final between the Russian and Spanish women's teams, as well as of the ISAF's decision to declare the Spanish team as winner of the semi final and that the CAS oblige the ISAF to conduct race 4 (and 5, if needed) today, 11 August 2012.

A CAS panel composed of Mr Graeme Mew (Canada) as Sole Arbitrator issued a decision today at
11.45am dismissing the applicant's appeal.

The full award, with the grounds, will be issued shortly.
