The Sports Lawyers Association elects new board members
Glenn M. Wong, attorney and Professor in the Mark H. McCormack Department of Sport Management in the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, has been elected to a two year term as President of the Sports Lawyers Association.
The Sports Lawyers Association, whose common goal is the understanding, advancement and ethical practice of sports law, is the largest and leading professional organization of sports lawyers in the world, with over 1500 members.
“I look forward to working with the board of directors and the membership in continuing the outstanding work of the Sports Lawyers Association”, said Wong. “With a wide range and complexity of sports law and business issues facing and impacting the modern global sports industry landscape, the Sports Lawyers Association works to raise, discuss, interpret and educate on these issues. The 2014 Annual Conference will mark the 40th anniversary of the organization.”
Glenn Wong is an internationally noted sports law and sports business educator, author, practitioner and advisor. Wong has worked as a consultant and advisor to various organizations in sports including Major League Baseball, the Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles, the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the United States Olympic Committee and the Knight Commission. Wong’s publications include the first sports law casebook, co-authored with Robert C. Berry, and now in the fourth edition.
Wong has twice received the Chancellors Medal of Honor at the University of Massachusetts. He has also received the University’s Distinguished Teaching Award as well is the Isenberg School Management Teaching Award.
He also serves on the Board of Directors for the United States Tennis Association New England and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
