Welsh rugby union player banned for three years and eight months

UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) today confirmed that Drew Priday, a Welsh rugby union player, has been suspended from all sport for three years and eight months following an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV).
Priday, from Rhondda Cynon Taf in South Wales, tested positive for the exogenous anabolic androgenic steroid metenolone and a metabolite of metenolone following an out-of-competition test at TATA Steel RFC on 27 September 2016.
Priday was charged with an ADRV pursuant to Article 2.1 of the Anti-Doping Rules – “Presence of a Prohibited Substance or its Metabolites or Markers in an Athlete’s Sample”.
UKAD and the World Anti-Doping Agency subsequently agreed to reduce the applicable period of ineligibility of four years by four months, based on Priday’s prompt admission.
Priday is banned from all sport from 19 October 2016 to midnight on 18 June 2020.
