SafeSport & Integrity Executive - Gymnastics Ireland

Gymnastics Ireland, the national governing body for the sport of gymnastics in Ireland, is seeking a motivated and organised SafeSport Executive to join our team. This new role will be crucial in supporting our membership community across a range of key areas all relevant to ensuring a safe and positive experience of our sport for individuals & clubs. It is envisaged that this will be a full-time role with an initial 1 year contract offered with potential to extend for the longer term. A competitive market rate remuneration package including salary, flexible work-from-home approach plus standard expenses provision is offered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure we continue to provide our members with a safe and enjoyable experience of our sport from club to national level underpinned by up-to-date policies and best practice approaches.
  • Play a central role in the implementation/management of key GI policies plus provide education & support from club to national level to ensure we continue to operate in line with best practice across a series of key areas including, but not limited to :
    • Safeguarding
    • Club governance & culture
    • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging
    • Garda Vetting/Access NI
    • Anti-doping
    • Club/International Travel
  • Ensure our ongoing compliance with Children’s First legislation by:
    • Educating & supporting clubs in relation to their obligations
    • Under the guidance of the Director of Community Support & Operations, the National Children’s Officer & the Complaints & Disciplinary Officer, fulfil key national roles as per the legislation including the Designated Liaison Person & Mandated Person.
  • Work to develop innovative new initiatives to further ensure we continue develop in line with our values as outlined in our strategic plan.
  • Due to the nature of sport this is not a standard 9-5 role. It is a project/programme focussed role that will require evening and weekend work on occasion. The successful individual will therefore be required to operate utilising their initiative to manage their own time/schedule ensuring projects/programmes are delivered as planned.

  • A “People Person” who understands the value of sport, the importance of supporting a community such as Gymnastics Ireland & someone who can grow in the role as our organisation evolves.
  • An individual who shares our values & vision for the sport, who is committed to working to ensure we provide a safe and enjoyable experience from club to national level covering participation through to performance pathways for all our members.
  • An individual with strong communication skills with a professional and helpful manner when dealing with our members & professional advisors.
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, manage deadlines, and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle confidential information regarding safeguarding & welfare in a discreet & professional manner.
  • Experience in using Windows-based software application including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • An interest & enthusiasm for Sport.

Contract Details

  • Contract Type: 1 year initial term with potential for the longer term.
  • Location: Irish Sport HQ, Sport Ireland Campus, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 (hybrid working model)
  • Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
  • Start Date: TBC
