Prof. John T. Wendt

John serves as Professor Emeritus of Ethics and Business Law Department in the Opus College of Business at the University of St. Thomas. He holds a Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts, Summa Cum Laude from the University of Minnesota and a Juris Doctorate from William Mitchell College of Law. He has taught and developed over twenty courses in law and sports law on the undergraduate, graduate MBA and law school levels. In addition to St. Thomas he taught at the University of Minnesota, the University of Wisconsin and Hamline University School of Law.
John’s research interests focus on sports law and employment law/non-compete agreements. He has authored or co-authored over forty peer reviewed articles in leading law and sports law journals including The International Sports Law Journal, Marquette Sports Law Review, The British Journal of Sports Medicine, The American Bar Association, American Business Law Journal, Journal of Legal Aspects of Sport, University of Kansas Law Review and Buffalo Law Review.
He has served as a member of the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the JAMS Horseracing Integrity & Welfare Unit, Anti-Doping and Controlled Medication Rule Violations Panel, the American Arbitration Association, the Ladies Professional Golf Association Special Anti-Doping Arbitration Panel, and the World Triathlon Union Arbitration Panel.
He has been inducted into the University of Minnesota Aquatics Hall of Fame and the University of Minnesota’s College of Liberal Arts Alumni of Notable Achievement. He has also received the Governor’s Certificate of Commendation for Service to the State of Minnesota.
