Role Overview
We are seeking a Newly Qualified Solicitor with a strong interest in Employment Law to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity to combine legal practice with a passion for football, working directly with professional players, clubs, and partner organisations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and representation to players on employment-related matters, including:
- Player contracts
- Grievances and disputes
- Terminations and disciplinary issues
- Rights under employment and sports law
- Draft, review, and negotiate player contracts and agreements.
- Support PFA NI in policy development and strategic initiatives.
- Attend meetings, hearings, and mediations as required.
- Deliver workshops or briefings to players on legal rights, contracts, and welfare issues.
- Liaise with partner unions, leagues, and governing bodies.
- Travel for meetings, events, and player support (NI, ROI, and occasional UK trips).
Essential Requirements
- Newly Qualified Solicitor (NQ) with an interest or background in Employment Law.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to explain complex legal matters clearly and supportively.
- High professional and ethical standards.
- A genuine passion for football and player welfare.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel.
- Desirable
- Experience in sports law, contract law, or working with athletes (not essential).
- Knowledge of the football landscape in Northern Ireland.
