L.M. Schelstraete

Luc has been practicing law for over 35 years and in 1989 he founded Schelstraete Equine Lawyers. Luc has developed the equine legal business as a niche and today he operates as the Managing Partner of the Firm.  In 2015 Luc initiated  the Alliance Group of European, US and Asian Equine Lawyers which has partners in more than 10 countries.

Luc practices as legal counsel of  many international highly ranked multinational equine entrepreneurs, trainers, equine authorities, national federations and top athletes.

In addition to his specialization in equine law, Luc has broad experience in  International Contracting, - Litigation and Art Law.

Similar to the equine business, the art business is internationally oriented and is developing and expanding quickly. Luc has represented an array of international art dealers in the Netherlands, Belgium and France.

Luc has registered the legal practice area ‘Contract Law’ in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister). Based on this registration, he is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in this registered legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.

Besides his law practice Luc leads an enterprise in high level dressage horses developing top Grand Prix horses of which several have been competing at the Olympic Games.
