We are excited to announce that the 5th LawInSport’s Annual Conference ‘Understand The Rules Of The Game 2019’ will be hosted at the Royal Institution of Great Britain, Green Park (Mayfair), London on 12th & 13th September 2019.

This two day conference will build on the success of the previous annual conferences at which over 300 leading sports lawyers, sports executives, academics, students and athletes networked and discussed the key issues and developments in international sports law.

SPEAKER BIOS

Nina Goolamali QC, Barrister, 2 Temple Gardens

Described as “an exceptional leading counsel” and “one of the most knowledgeable and personable barristers around”, Nina has a very well established practice in Sports Law. She took silk in 2017 and is ranked as a Tier 1 Barrister in Sport in the Legal 500 2019.

Nina is highly regarded as a skilled, commercially astute and sensitive advocate and negotiator in complex multi-million pound cases arising in sports disputes. Nina leads the 2TG Sports Law Team and has been described in the legal directories as a “sports expert” with “an impressive level of technical knowledge.”

She holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Sports Law from King’s College, London and is on the Editorial Board of LawInSport. She is a member of the Sport Resolutions UK Pro Bono Legal Service and has recently been appointed as an Independent Panel Arbitrator in an English Football Association (FA) Rule K Arbitration.

Her sports practice encompasses injury, regulatory, insurance, commercial and employment contractual matters. She acts for players, teams and national governing bodies in all major sports but is particularly sought after in the field of Motorsport (Formula 1, MotoGP, MotoCross, Speedway & Karting), rugby and football.

Sylvia Krainin, Partner, Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A.

Sylvia A. Krainin is a partner with the Miami office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A.  Ms. Krainin focuses her practice on representing employers and their carriers, professional sports franchises and leagues in workers’ compensation and labor and employment matters.  This representation includes counseling and defending management in workers’ compensation claims, grievances and arbitration proceedings pursuant to contract and collective bargaining agreements.   In these areas, Ms. Krainin has advised and served as counsel to the National Football League Management Council (NFLMC) in non-injury grievance proceedings under the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement and in various state court proceedings.  Specifically, she has handled more than 50 appeals and has presented oral argument before the Florida Supreme Court, the First District Court of Appeal and the NFLMC-NFLPA (NFL Players Association) National Appellate Arbitrator. In addition, her practice also includes commercial litigation, entertainment and sports law, as well as insurance and general liability defense.

Ms. Krainin is a member of the NFLMC’s Committee on Workers’ Compensation Coverage of NFL Players and is a member of the NFL’s Workers’ Compensation Reimbursement Panel.  Ms. Krainin is also a designated workers’ compensation panel attorney for Major League Baseball and serves as National Workers’ Compensation Coordinating Counsel for a fortune 500 company.

Ms. Krainin is recognized in Florida Super Lawyers® by Law & Politics magazine and has attained the highest Peer Review Rating℠ of AV® Preeminent ™by Martindale Hubbell.

Jim D Edgeworth, Sports Insurance Broker, Edgeworth & Associates

Jim Edgeworth was raised in Boston and attended Dartmouth College. He moved to Houston after years of playing professional hockey. Jim has been producing high quality disability and life insurance for athletes and entertainers for the past forty years. As a longtime member of Sunningdale golf club, you can find Jim on the golf course on the weekends.

Cody Edgeworth, Sports Insurance Broker, Edgeworth & Associates

Cody Edgeworth was raised playing American football in Houston. After attending the University of Chicago, he moved back home to join the family business. Cody has been active in the Lloyd’s of London market place for ten years. He enjoys hunting, house barbeques, and playing fantasy football with college friends.

James Hands, Joint Head of Special Risks, Miller Insurance

James’s leadership of Miller’s Special Risks business division includes Accident & Health, Credit & Political risks, Terrorism & Political Violence, Special Contingency Risks and Cargo & Supply Chain business.

Miller Insurance work with a diverse range of clients on a global basis, identifying, managing and transferring risks and giving coverholders and brokers access to innovative, marketing-leading cover.
