Bobsleigh athlete banned for four years

Bobsleigh athlete, Nathan Togun, has been suspended from all sport for a period of four years following an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV).
Mr Togun tested positive for the presence of the prohibited substances 4β-hydroxystanozolol, stanozolol-N-glucuronide and epistanozolol-N-glucuronide (metabolites of stanozolol) following an out-of-competition test, on 6 October 2018.
Stanozolol is listed under section S1.1(a) of the WADA 2018 Prohibited List as an Exogenous Anabolic Androgenic Steroid. It is a non-specified substance, prohibited at all times.
Mr Togun was charged with an ADRV pursuant to Article 2.1 of the Anti-Doping Rules – “Presence of a Prohibited Substance or its Metabolites or Markers in an Athlete’s Sample”.
UKAD’s Director of Operations, Pat Myhill, said: “All athletes have a responsibility to adhere to the principle of strict liability – being solely responsible for any substances found in their system.
“As a high performance athlete, Mr Togun should be fully aware of the anti-doping rules and his responsibilities.”
The period of ineligibility shall apply from 13 November 2018 until midnight on 12 November 2022.
