20 May 2015 - The Cycling Anti-Doping Foundation (CADF) Funding Committee, composed of all cycling stakeholders who fund the anti-doping activities of the CADF, today met in Geneva for the first time in 2015.

The CADF’s remit is to define and implement the doping control strategy in cycling on behalf of the

Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The CADF Funding Committee meets regularly in order to receive updates on the current anti-doping programme run by CADF, and review the past activities of the CADF through a quarterly Business Report and an Activity Report detailing the up-to-date statistics concerning doping controls in cycling.

Topics covered during the meeting included; a verbal report on yesterday’s CADF Foundation Board meeting given by the Foundation Board President George Van Dugteren, confirmation of the appointment of an Intelligence Coordinator by the CADF, and an overview of the CADF’s testing strategy for 2015 focusing more on a qualitative rather than quantitative approach to the anti-doping testing programme.

Luuc Eisenga, CADF Funding Committee President, said: “As active stakeholders in professional cycling we are funding the activities of the Cycling Anti-Doping Foundation. Therefore regular meetings of the Funding Committee are important in order to understand the direction and strategy of the CADF’s testing programme and any potential impacts on budget. Today’s meeting was very informative focusing on the CADF’s strategy towards a more qualitative approach to the anti-doping testing programme.”

Francesca Rossi, CADF Director, commented: “Meeting regularly with our stakeholders is very important for us in terms of transparency. Today we explained our 2015 testing programme, which focuses more on the qualitative rather than quantitative aspect. We also updated them on our testing statistics for the first quarter of 2015. It is important for the CADF to have regular and open discussions with our stakeholders through the Funding Committee.”

The meeting was chaired by the CADF Funding Committee President, Luuc Eisenga, with the following members present; Richard Plugge, Treasurer and vice-President of the Association International des Groupes Cyclistes Professionnels (AIGCP), Alfonso Galilea (AIGCP), Dominique Leroux, Manager of the Legal Anti-Doping Services (UCI), Hartmut Bölts, Association Internationale des Organisateurs de Courses Cyclistes (AIOCC) and Xavier Jan, representative of the Cyclistes Professionnels Associés (CPA).
