Cycling Athlete Suspended for Refusing Doping Control

The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) announced today that Greg Doucette, a cycling athlete, received an eight-year sanction for a second anti-doping rule violation. The athlete refused to submit to sample collection during an in-competition doping control session on May 26, 2018.
In response to the CCES’s notification of the anti-doping rule violation, Mr. Doucette requested a hearing to determine the violation and whether the eight-year sanction period should be eliminated or reduced. On October 2, 2018, Arbitrator Allen Stitt confirmed the violation and imposed a sanction of eight years ineligibility from sport. The athlete, who resides in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is ineligible to participate in any capacity with any sport signatory to the Canadian Anti-Doping Program (CADP), including training with teammates.

Un athlète de cyclisme suspendu pour refus de se soumettre au prélèvement d’échantillon
Le Centre canadien pour l’éthique dans le sport (CCES) a annoncé aujourd’hui que Greg Doucette, un athlète de cyclisme, s’est vu imposer une suspension de huit ans pour une deuxième violation des règles antidopage. L’athlète a refusé de se soumettre au prélèvement d’échantillon lors d’un contrôle du dopage en compétition le 26 mai 2018.
En réponse à la notification de la violation des règles antidopage par le CCES, M. Doucette a exigé la tenue d’une audience visant à déterminer si une violation a été commise et si la suspension de huit ans devrait être levée ou réduite. Le 2 octobre 2018, l’arbitre Allen Stitt a confirmé la violation et a imposé une suspension de huit ans. Durant cette période, il est interdit à cet athlète, qui réside à Halifax en Nouvelle-Écosse, de participer à quelque titre que ce soit à un sport signataire du Programme canadien antidopage (PCA), y compris de s’entraîner avec ses coéquipiers.
