Football Athlete Suspended for the Presence of Drostanolone

The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) announced today that Logan Fischer, a U SPORTS football athlete affiliated with the University of Manitoba, received a sanction of four years for an anti-doping rule violation. The athlete’s urine sample, collected during out-of-competition doping control on October 22, 2019, revealed the presence of drostanolone, a prohibited anabolic agent.

Because Mr. Fischer failed to dispute the anti-doping rule violation within the timelines specified in the Canadian Anti-Doping Program (CADP), the violation and the sanction were confirmed by way of a deemed waiver. Since the athlete accepted a voluntary provisional suspension on November 19, 2019, his sanction will conclude November 18, 2023. During the sanction period, the athlete, who resides in Winnipeg, MB, is ineligible to participate in any capacity with any sport signatory to the CADP, including training with teammates.

Le Centre canadien pour l’éthique dans le sport (CCES) a annoncé aujourd’hui que Logan Fischer, un athlète de football de U SPORTS affilié à l’Université du Manitoba, s’est vu imposer une suspension de quatre ans pour une violation des règles antidopage. L’échantillon d’urine de l’athlète, prélevé dans le cadre d’un contrôle du dopage hors compétition le 22 octobre 2019, a révélé la présence de drostanolone, un agent anabolisant interdit.

Puisque M. Fischer n’a pas contesté la violation des règles antidopage dans les délais prévus par le Programme canadien antidopage (PCA), la violation et la sanction ont été confirmées au motif de la présomption de renonciation. Puisque l’athlète avait volontairement accepté une suspension provisoire le 19 novembre 2019, sa sanction prendra fin le 18 novembre 2023. Durant la période de la sanction, il est interdit à l’athlète, qui réside à Winnipeg au Manitoba, de participer à quelque titre que ce soit à un sport signataire du PCA, y compris de s’entraîner avec ses coéquipiers.
