Rugby League player banned for four years

Harry Reardon, formerly of Rochdale Hornets RLFC, has been suspended from all sport for a period of four years following an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV).
Mr Reardon tested positive for the presence of the prohibited substances 2α-methyl-5α-androstan-3α-οl-17-one and 19-norandrosterone, metabolites of drostanolone and nandrolone respectively, following an Out-of-Competition test on 30 November 2017.
Mr Reardon was charged with an ADRV pursuant to Article 2.1 of the Anti-Doping Rules – “Presence of a Prohibited Substance or its Metabolites or Markers in an Athlete’s Sample”.
UKAD Chief Executive Nicole Sapstead said: “We have seen a number of cases of steroid use in recent months, the majority of which have incurred close to, or the maximum penalty of a four-year suspension for a first-time offence.
“Steroid use is a serious offence, not only because of their performance-enhancing qualities but because of their long-term benefits to performance and harmful properties in terms of health. For these reasons, UKAD will always seek to attain the maximum penalty.”
The period of ineligibility shall apply from the date of Sample collection (30 November 2017) until midnight on 29 November 2021.
